Inclusion Australia is a key advocacy body dedicated to promoting the rights and interests of Australians with intellectual disabilities. Upstride Agency has provided a broad spectrum of services to support Inclusion Australia's mission since 2019.
This included strategic planning, advocacy, public relations, media management, campaign execution, marketing and social media.
WHAT WE DID
Upstride’s approach encompassed a holistic communication strategy, focusing on advocacy, media relations, and stakeholder engagement to amplify Inclusion Australia’s impact.
Communications Consulting: Provided consultancy services to develop and refine Inclusion Australia’s communication strategies. This included crafting communication plans, advising on messaging, and implementing best practices in public relations.
Campaigns and Marketing
Upstride were engaged in delivering various health and advocacy campaigns that aimed to promote imperative resources and messages for Australians with an intellectual disability.
Upstride designed and implemented a communications plan for Inclusion Australia’s Make Decisions Real Campaign, a paid and organic marketing strategy to promote resources and videos for Australians with an intellectual disability about making informed decisions. Upstride executed a targeted campaign across various platforms.
Upstride were also engaged to design and deliver Inclusion Australia’s ‘It’s Doctor Time!’ campaign, to promote an increase in yearly health checks for people with intellectual disability, who are at greater risk of health conditions and death.

Advocacy and PR
Media Relations: Managed media outreach and liaised with journalists to secure coverage on key issues affecting Australians with intellectual disabilities. This included drafting and distributing media releases, organising interviews, and facilitating media briefings.
Policy Advocacy and Messaging: Developed clear and compelling talking points and key messages for Inclusion Australia to use in responses to the Disability Royal Commission, the NDIS Review and other advocacy efforts. These messages were tailored to effectively communicate the needs and perspectives of Australians with intellectual disabilities, ensuring a strong and unified voice in discussions with policymakers and the media.
